CUAD 2019 in partnership with Positive Change for Marine Life!
Clean up Australia Day 2019 saw us partner with Positive Change for Marine Life to clean up the upper reaches of Tingalpa Creek. With over 40 volunteers kayaking and walking the banks of the creek we were successful in removing over 450kg of rubbish. Huge thanks to all our volunteers for participating in the day. It was pleasing to hear from some of our volunteers who have come a few times that the amount of rubbish seemed to be reducing.
Some interesting stats from the day are as follows:
Total items: 3482
Total weight: 456kg
Total plastic: 2106
Total Polystyrene / foam: 786
————————————————————–
Total plastic bag and film remnants: 989
Total plastic drink bottles: 215
Total cigarette butts & lighters: 112
Total plastic bags: 100
Following on from CUAD we will look to run an event for World Ocean Day. We are hosting a viewing of the documentary “Blue the Film” on Friday 7th June at BCC Cinemas, Capalaba. To register your interest please email admin@redlandskayaktours.com.au
